Snow !

This weekend, November was showing its grey and foggy side - Huenenberg was covered in a truly miserable grey "soup".  So Andy wisely decided that we should go above the fog near Oberalp-pass - which worked a treat:

No fog up here

Hard to believe that 4 weeks ago we went walking in Andermatt and were wearing Shorts and T-Shirts, and spent a happy lunchbreak lying in the sun in the gras.

Just a tiny bit higher up, and 4 weeks on, lunch looked different :-)

Lunch

And we got to enjoy the day instead of stare at grey November weather.

Enjoying the sun

Sicily = Like !

When my friend Doris and I decided early on in the year to go somewhere for a week, I thought it might be a good idea to see some extra sun late in the year.
Although we had a gorgeous autumn and it was still beautiful and sunny shortly before we set off to Sicily, the weather turned just in time to make the Sicilian sunshine extra special.
It was even warm enough to swim in the sea.

Without further ado, here are some impressions:

Trapani Salines - Brilliant !

Finally, on our last day, we went to Zingaro nature reserve to walk a bit of the coastal path, and - joy !- swim in the sea !  Oh it was beautiful - the water sooooo warm...

The day did not start too promising

... but thankfully the sun eventually won

Testing the waters

Yep, gotta go for a swim !

Swimming was fab - until the waves...

got a bit  too large to be fun...

Graubuenden Sept 14

Sat 6th
Arrive in Tarasp - famous for its castle (see below), which reminded me of Edinburgh castle, except for there is just a tiny village below, no large city and no royal mile - no tourist-tack shops either !

Our holiday home for week 1 was just below the castle, on the street leading up to the castle - here an impression of the setting:

It's time to go up a mountain ! We cheated and took the cable car from Scuol to Motta Naluns and so quickly got above the clouds, where we had excellent weather and great views
